Bitmaps tpyically contain more data than say a powerpoint where the background is all the same colour etc. The way T.120 works is that it splits the screen in to blocks and if the contents of a block changes it sends it down the pipe. With a bitmap, that is big ie takes up most of the screen you'll find most of the blocks have changed so they have all got to be sent down. If thins are similar from slide to slide, there is a lot less information to send so things appear quicker.
