Sametime Gateway 8.5.2 Linux

My installation of Sametime Gateway has been a nightmare. I don't mind learning by trial and error except that I am on a
bit of a time crunch. I have had numerous issues. So I am starting again from scratch.

IBM Support Suggests:

Generally, the deployment plan for a Gateway cluster is as follows:
DB2 on a separate server.
SSC on a separate server. (This can be installed on the same server as DMGR, however on a different WAS profile)
DMGR on a separate server.
each Gateway node on a separate server. Proxy servers could be deployed on the same server as a Gateway node,
however, on a different WAS profile.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is what I currently have deployed:
1. Sametime System Console Server 8.5.2 with these components
A. DB2
B. WebSphere Application Server is installed
I see two Profiles. STSCAppProfile and STSCDmgr Profile I assume this is the deployment manager profile.

I followed this doc to install the SAMETIME GATEWAY
http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/stwiki.nsf/dx/Installing_the_Deployment_Manager_on_AIX_Linux_or_Solaris_st852

Questions:
1. In the Installing the Deployment Manager on AIX, Linux, or Solaris Document it states :

Before you begin
Expected state: DB2® or the DBMS Administration Client is installed. The DB2 database is created and DB2 is running.
Does this mean that it expects DB2 to be installed on the same Server?

My Sametime System Console server has a DB2 server running, Should I use use that DB2 server and create a DB2 database
for the deployment manager?

If not should a "Stand Alone" DB2 server just for the Deployment Manager be installed?

2. Here is where the confusion begins for me. This document describes the installation for Deployment manager,
In the About This Task section, it clearly explains in the 3rd line that the installation wizard will install
WebSphere® Application Server and an instance of Sametime® Gateway:
How can I install the DMGR and the Sametime Gateway Node on different servers?

"The installation wizard installs an instance of WebSphere® Application Server and an instance of Sametime® Gateway".

Any Clarification will be appreciated.
