Hi David,

There is nothing directly out of the box that does this, so there are a few approachs you can take.

Sametime does have a very rich developers toolkit and what you're asking for is very possible and not really that difficult. Here is what I would suggest:

I would build a Java Servlet
If you want to watch the status for a specific set of users that are in a group, I would make it so that you can send the group name as a parameter to the servlet, and the servlet return the status of members of that group. In the Sametime Java toolkit, you would basically at the group to a watch list, and output the status returned for each person in that group.

If you want it for everybody on the server, even if they may not be in a group, I would recommend the Sametime Community Server toolkit, with this toolkit, you can monitor all login and logout events on the server, so you could keep track of who is online and offline and output that information when requested.

An alternative approach, would be to use the STLinks toolkit, if your In/Out board is a HTML page, just make the names on the board Sametime aware using the STLinks toolkit.
