Background: I am the Corporate IT Manager for a small US firm that has been using Lotus Notes for years. We have under 50 employees spread across more than 10 US locations and home offices. I would like to upgrade my firm to Lotus Notes/Domino to 8.5 and introduce both Lotus Sametime (or Sametime Unyte) and Blackberry Enterprise Server. /background
Before LND, Sametime, or BES, I expect to first implement a VOIP phone system. I *really* want that phone solution to provide integration with Lotus Sametime (and possibly other Lotus UC solutions). I am aware that expensive Cisco and Avaya systems offer good Sametime integration, but I face two significant, and related challenges:
1) Cisco, Avaya, and other VOIP phone systems near their price points are simply too expensive for me to consider, mainly because our employees are spread out between so many locations. I cannot afford to spend $2500 - $5000 per person on just phones and hardware, nevermind the cost of installation and configuration.
2) While purchased and hosted VOIP phone solutions that cater to SMBs are MUCH less expensive up front, I can't find one with Lotus Sametime/UC integration. Unfortunately, many of the SMB VOIP providers with whom I have spoke with have never heard of Lotus Sametime.
My question:
Which SMB VOIP phone solutions (preferably hosted) provide tight integration with Lotus Sametime, Sametime Unyte, and/or other Lotus UC solutions? Ideally, I would like a hosted VOIP solution that also integrates with Salesforce.com, and has a standards-based web interface that doesn't require the use of Internet Explorer.
