Sametime user didn't show online via Notes, but via browser did.

The user logon the Sametime via Lotus Notes client, didn't show online, but via web browser, can show up online.
Checked Sametime log file (stlog.nsf) entries in "Community Server Login and Logout Events by User" view:
via Lotus Notes client, the user name shows as canonical hierarchical names (for example CN=John Smith/OU=Sales/O=Acme)
via Web browser, shows abbreviated names (for example John Smith).
All the canonical hierarchical names user can't show online status to anyone else.
How was that? How to change the user name from canonical hierarchical name to abbreviated name?
