Test Infrastructures: Sametime 8.2 Windows Cluster
|
The purpose of this document is to describe the Sametime infrastructures deployed during testing by the IBM® Systems Verification Test (SVT) team. Only a sample of the configurations deployed on Windows 2003 are included to serve as examples of infrastructures we set up. Our goal is to provide you with hints and tips for your own deployment.
The goal of our testing was to run chat and meeting workloads on the Cluster. We tested both a 24 hour and a 3 day workload on this infrastructure with a load of 40k users per community server.

The following table lists the specifications for the computers used in the infrastructure.

4. Configuration Settings |
1. We configured this infrastructure to use an LDAP directory. We used a Domino 8.0.2 server with the following LDAP settings:
Base DN |
|
LDAP bind ID / password | |
SF for resolving person names | (&(objectclass=organizationalPerson)(|(cn=%s*)(givenname=%s*)(sn=%s*)(mail=%s*))) |
SF for resolving a user name to DN | (&(objectclass=organizationalPerson)(|(cn=%s)(givenname=%s)(sn=%s)(mail=%s))) |
SF for resolving group names | (&(objectclass=groupOfUniqueNames)(cn=%s*)) |
Attribute that defines a person name | cn |
Person's object class | organizationalPerson |
Attribute that define group members | uniquemember |
Group's object class | GroupOfUniqueNames |
2. When installing Sametime in our test environment, tunnelling was enabled on the Sametime servers.

NOTE: Every customer is different. Our results were obtained in a controlled test environment. Customer environments are usually less optimal and may not get the same results. Understanding your environment (usage scenario, network, etc...) is crucial before recommending scaling numbers, hardware and solutions
