I have everything but the MediaManager working now:-) Everything is on the same IP/Hostname, also the OS Hostname. I have the icons but get an error (but with no error text) when try to do Video/Audio calls:-( I use "displayname" eg. "Rasmus/rkl/mpi" for displayname can that be a problem? I se the clients connected to SIP in the MediaManger/SIP in the ISC.

To Rasmus:

You can have one IP and one Host name, or several IP's and Host Names.

If you use one IP and Host Name then the services need to listen on different ports.

for example the meeting server on port 80 and the proxy on port 9080. Be aware that your users then have to use the port in the URL.

If you use several IP addresses and host names, then you need to bind the IP's and services to the individual host-names (IP addresses) in the particular ISC.

But be careful. Installing the Media Manager requires the OS Hostname. Or it meight not work correctly.

See my message below.

The Slides are made when Beta4 was available. In the 8.5 release this has changed.

Upgrade your Sametime 7.5 server to 8.5 using the standard upgrade methode. and then use the new post install script "registerSTServerNode.bat" to add the updated Sametime 8.5 server into the System Console.

If installing DB2/Console, Media, Meeting and Proxy on one server. Do you then have one IP address or more (the different hostnames could point to the same IP). If using more then one IP should it then be different nics?

I've been going through this presentation as well as using the InfoCenter attempting to get Sametime 8.5 up and running in a pilot test environment. I've been learning, obviously as I go and making some mistakes. I'm at a point where I have uninstalled everything and I'm now attempting to reinstall the DB2 piece via the Installation Manager. It gets close to the end where setup.exe is executing and it fails with an error: Error during the "install" phase: Error executing "C:\temp\db\setup.exe" operation (status=1603). Any suggestions for assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The message in the slide was correct when Beta 4 was available. In the Sametime 8.5 GA release this has changed and a the post install script you mentioned is available. With that script you can add an updated Sametime 8.5 community server into the System Console and then administer this server with the console.

Question: Slide 61.

"In the actual release it is not possible to add an already installed Sametime Server to the System Console for managing and administration".

- What will be the procedure to migrate an existing Sametime 7.x to 8.5 if we can't register it on the server console?

I thought the "registerSTServerNode.bat" can be used to integrate an existing sametime to the System console.

Btw: thanks for the usefull presentation.
