Working with geographic location profiles in Sametime Connect

At home, I get a wireless connection. I certainly get different ip addresses, but on the advanced view of ST, it shows the subnet as 192.168.2.0 which I assumed meant it would associated all 192.168.2.0-255 addresses with that location. Thus, 192.168.2.100, 192.168.2.101, 192.168.2.102, etc. would all be mapped to the same location. At work, I get different ip addresses as well (all on the same subnet except the last number).

I had Notes 8.5.1 and have since upgrade to 8.5.2 to see if it would help (it didn't). In both cases, I am using the ST embedded in Notes. I don't see where to get a version for it, but I assume that it is ST 8. In the plugin details, it says the ST application is 8.0.2.20090817-1535.

At home, are you connecting via dialup or wireless connection? You may be getting a different ip address on the machine, for example, if wireless, you might be getting 192.168.1.5 vs 192.168.1.6, etc. What version fo Sametime are you using?

Working with geographic location profiles in Sametime Connect

I know how to change the Geographic Location information (as you indicated). My problem is that it doesn't remember the locations. Thus, when I am at Home, it frequently shows unknown network and I have to set it to Home and fill in all the fields again. It has the name network mask (192.168....), so why does it not remember that? I suspect it is related to having 2 different masks at work which gives me a total of three networks that I use on a regular basis. If the "memory" was only 2, then it would easily explain as I move from 1 to 2 to 3 that 1 is forgotten and then when I go back to 1, I have to reenter the information.

How can I get it to actually remember the location and stop forgetting it so I don't have to enter it most times that I log back into that same network?

There is a preference to change this in Lotus Notes. From the Notes client, open File>Preferences. On the left side of the preferences window, there are several entries, one of which is Sametime. Click on Sametime, and then under that you will see "Geographic Location." This will let you edit the location information for your current, and other locations.

But Geographic Locations only seems to remember 2 things. I have 3 networks that I normally use (home, work LAN, and work WiFi), so it seems to only remember the previous one and then the new one is frequently unknown. Thus, I have to set it almost all the time. Is there some way to have it remember more than 2 locations? Or, is there a way to change the masks so that the 2 work ones can be combined into one?

Use File>Preferences from the Notes client, then select "Sametime>Geographic Location" from the left side navigator. Or click on the geographic location text in the status bar at the top of the Sametime Contacts sidebar of Notes.

well that's nice problem is that you can only manage these 'geographic locations' within Sametime Client but that does not exist anywhere within Lotus Notes client.

Here is the problem I once installed ST client and modify location then I got new laptop without ST client but my Lotus Notes 8.5 still displays location I once created in ST client, which btw is different location and time zone I'm now in how do I change 'geographic location' without installing ST client?
