This topic describes basic tasks that you can accomplish in the wiki.

Note
: Microsoft Windows users using Microsoft Internet Explorer, it is recommended that you use Internet Explorer 7 when interacting with the wiki.

Contributing to the wiki

To add, edit, or comment on an article, you must have a developerWorks Lotus user name and password.
If you have a developerWorks Lotus user name and password, click Log in in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki.
If you do not have a developerWorks Lotus user name and password, click Wiki user name registration in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki.

Editing articles

To edit an article, click Edit in the Article information section at the top of the page.

Commenting on articles

To comment on an article, scroll to the bottom of the article and click Add a comment.

Creating your own articles

To create your own article, click Add an article in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki.

Attachment size limit

You can post files up to 10MB per file.

Adding attachments to articles

1.        Go to the bottom of an article that is in edit mode and click Attachments to expand the attachments section.
2.        Click Browse to locate the file that you want to attach.
3.        Click Upload to attach the file to the page. The file attachment will appear at the bottom of the article.

Deleting attachments

If you would like an attachment deleted from the wiki, click Wiki feedback in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki. In the form include the following information:
  • Name of wiki
  • Name of the article that contains the attachment you want to delete
  • Name of the file that you want deleted
  • Reason you need to delete the attachment

Linking to attachments in the body of an article

1.        Follow the steps above to add an attachment to an article.
2.        Determine the URL for the attachment by right-clicking the attachment at the bottom of the article and selecting Copy link location or Copy shortcut.
3.        In the body of the article, enter and highlight the text that you want to turn into a link.
4.        Click the Insert/Edit Link icon.
5.        In the Insert/Edit Link dialog box, enter the URL to the attachment in the URL field and set Target as New Window, then click OK.

Linking to other pages within the wiki

1.        In the body of the article, enter and highlight the text that you want to turn into a link.
2.        Click the Insert/Edit Link icon.
3.        In the Insert/Edit Link dialog box, enter the URL to the wiki page in the URL field.
4.        In the Target field, select Self for the current page to change to the link destination, or select New Window for a new page to open the link destination, and then click OK.

Linking to other wikis

1.        In the body of the article, enter and highlight the text that you want to turn into a link.
2.        Click the Insert/Edit Link icon.
3.        In the Insert/Edit Link dialog box, enter the URL to the wiki in the URL field.
4.        In the Target field, select Self for the current page to change to the link destination, or select New Window for a new page to open the link destination, and then click OK.

Linking to a location within a wiki article
 
1.       Copy the page name of the article in which you want to add anchor links. The page name of the article appears in the URL after /dx, for example: http://dwlhub.notesdev.ibm.com/devwiki.nsf/dx/08042008093223PMDWL3TU.htm   or   http://dwlhub.notesdev.ibm.com/devwiki.nsf/dx/wiki-article.htm
2.        In the body of the article where you want an anchor link, enter the a href tag using the page name#anchor name and link name. For example, < a href=08042008093223PMDWL3TU.htm#anchorA >Anchor Link One< /a>
3.        Set the anchor for where you want the link to jump to using the a name tag. For example, < a name="anchorA" >This is where the anchor link will jump to< /a >

Reading previous versions of an article

To read previous versions of an article, click any of the previous article links under Revision history in the Article information section at the top of the page. The current version of the article is the only version that can be edited.

Rolling back to a previous version of an article

The wiki administrators have the ability to rollback articles to previous versions. If you would like an article rolled back to a previous version, click Wiki feedback in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki. In the form include the following information:
  • Name of wiki
  • Name of the article you want to roll back
  • Specific version (date and time) you want to roll back to
  • Reason you need to roll back the article

The wiki administrators will review the request and determine if an article roll back is needed.

Deleting an article

If you would like an article deleted from the wiki, click Wiki feedback in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki. In the form include the following information:
  • Name of wiki
  • Name of the article you want to delete
  • Specific version (date and time) you want to delete
  • Reason you need to delete the article

Providing feedback on the wiki

We want your feedback! To provide feedback on using the wiki, click  Wiki feedback in the Contribute section on the left side of the wiki.

Receiving wiki updates

To receive notification of the latest updates on the wiki, click the orange RSS icon either next to the category you would like to subscribe to, or to any of the options available in the Subscribe to RSS section on the left side of the wiki to subscribe to a RSS feed.
Note
: If your browser does not have RSS reading capability built in, or if you do not have an installed feed reader,  you will see the raw XML feed when clicking the RSS icon. You must have a feed reader to use the RSS feature of the wiki.
