|Before applying Interim Feature Release 1 to servers running on WebSphere® Application Server, back up any data and files that are going to be affected by the update on that particular server.
Before applying Interim Feature Release 1 to servers running on WebSphere
® Application Server, back up any data and files that are going to be affected by the update on that particular server.
- Before updating the Sametime® System Console, back up the System Console database. The IBM® Sametime System Console database stores information about all the Sametime servers that are connected to it.
- Stop the Sametime System Console server.
- Stop all Meeting Server applications.
- Stop any other servers using DB2®.
- Start the DB2 command line processor with the db2cmd command.
- Run the backup database command with the following syntax.
backup database database_name to backup_locationBack up the following WebSphere Application Server configurations and move them out of the WebSphere file system. They must be backed up outside of the WebSphere file system to be able to be restored in case of installation failure.
Replace database_name with the name of the Sametime System Console database, such as STSC. Replace backup_location with the directory that has sufficient space for the backup.
Before updating the Sametime System Console, back up the Deployment Manager configuration, the application server configuration, and the node configuration.Before updating a stand-alone Sametime Media manager or a Conference Manager component, back up the ConferenceManager.properties file as a precaution for saving custom settings.
Before updating Sametime Proxy Server, Sametime Media Manager, Sametime Meeting Server, Sametime Advanced, and Sametime Gateway, back up the application server configuration and the node configuration.

The file is located in the following directory:Before updating Sametime Proxy Server, Sametime Media Manager, Sametime Meeting Server, and Sametime Advanced, back up the local IBM Installation Manager registry files so that they can be restored in the event of installation failure. Back up the entire contents of the appropriate directory for your operating system.
