TM is installed with a default administrator account and password to access the Trace Management Portal (FADE); this administrator's password must be changed immediately after installation.
After installation or upgrade, TM systems need to be configured for Telephone QoS (Quality of Service) listening; the corresponding ports can be allocated via the Administration view
-> Manage Phones
tab on the Trace Management Portal (FADE).
RGs are now added and configured via the Administration view
-> Manage RG
tab on the FADE Web interface.
Upon installation of the Windows 2003 server OS, it has the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature enabled by default. In order for FADE to display correctly in IE, this feature needs to either be disabled or configured to trust the TM site/links.
Configuring Continuous Tracing for the TM Server
It is recommended to use the 24_7_extern mode for configuring Continuous Tracing in the Telephony Control Server 8.0 and 8.5.
Other tracing modes should be used only when strictly necessary or when directed by the Lotus Samtime Unified Telephony Service organization since they may affect the Telephony Control Server performance. It is highly suggested to consult the Lotus Samtime Unified Telephony Global Vendor Support organization for an assessment.
The latest FTP trace transfer configuration script (setup_trace_transfer.ksh) must be run on all existing Telephony Control Server R2 and R3 nodes integrated with TM.
For detailed instructions refer to the section “Setting Up Tracing on the Telephony Control Server: Configuration for Telephony Control Server R2 and R3” in the Administrators Guide.
The configuration of Continuous Tracing in the Telephony Control Voice Server and the transferring of the trace files to the TM server through FTP are done via the RTT Trace Management tool installed in the TM server.
The Telephony Control Server configuration instructions for tracing are found in the "Setting up tracing for the Telephony Control Server" section in the Administrators Guide.
When running the RTT Trace Management tool, TM will check if the required ActivePerl version is installed. If missing, a message will be displayed and the utility will not run.
RG8700 tracing is configured from FADE via the "Manage RG" tab in the Administration view.
When adding a RG, only numbers and letters must be used for its name parameter. No special characters are allowed.
TM support for Branch tracing analysis is enabled by default; the Branch sends the trace files via SFTP directly to the TM server which is unzipped automatically by the DIPAZ process and processed as they are received.
No further setup is necessary in TM, but the Branch needs to be configured to send its trace files to the TM server.
TM Extended Debugging Tools
The “Real Time Tracer for 8700” and the "TrapCollector" tools run in the background on the TM server and can be manually used for extended manual tracing analysis. However, any configuration changes done via these utilities will not be saved in the TM configuration.
