The request method BYE is used to end sessions.
On a two-party call:
- The first UA (User Agent) hangs up and sends a BYE request.
- The second UA receives the BYE request and sends “200 OK” response.
System Specific Information
On multicast calls BYE requests may be optionally sent when one party leaves. The session is not affected. For more than eight (8) participants a BYE request is usually not sent in order to reduce traffic.
