The Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony also offers a manual procedure which enables the system to block all traffic from a particular subnet in the Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony firewall.
Do NOT attempt to edit the firewall manually as this could have disastrous consequences.
This procedure, called subnet blocker, should be used with care though as the administrator that uses it must not forget to remove the subnet from the Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony firewall's blacklist when the overload condition that triggered the administrator to block the subnet has passed.
The Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony provides basic traffic filtering capabilities by defining rules in the on-board firewall. These rules are sometimes known as chains or access lists. All subnet information must be collected as part of the Network Planning and available to the administrator at all times to ensure readiness for an overload condition.
