The Media Server provides the conference and voice portal of Telephony Application Server. In this scope the Media Server manages the system announcements and user greetings of these portals. The system announcements are the same for all Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony users. The user greetings can be customized by each Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony user and define welcome greetings and name greetings.
The system announcements described here are independent from those that the Media Server manages for Telephony Control Server.
Lotus Sametime Unified Telephony users may configure their individual user greetings for the voice portal. In doing so they customize these user greetings always only on the Media Server the voice portal of which they are currently logged in to. If you use Telephony Application Server with a Media server farm, all other Media Servers of the farm use the origin version of the user greetings.
So that modified user greetings are automatically available on each Media Server of a Media server farm, the Media Server supports a replication mechanism. This mechanism replicates modified voice portal user greetings to all other Media Servers of the Media server farm automatically.
If you use a Media server farm, you should configure each remote Media Server for user greeting replication on each Media Server of the Media server farm.
