You can join a meeting room by tapping a valid URL from an email, calendar invite, or instant message. Doing so opens the client and joins the meeting room.
The capability to launch the client by tapping a room URL requires the June 2012 8.5.2 IFR1 meetings server fix pack. All meetings server fix packs are comprehensive. Any fix pack made available after the June 2012 date will also contain the functionality. If you are running on an on-premise server prior to this fix pack, touching a room URL opens the Safari browser on your device and attempts to enter the meeting room using the browser. This is not as rich an interface as the device client.
You can also tap Join by URL
from the main screen. This view displays an entry field where you can either type in a room URL or paste it from the clipboard. If the URL describes a meeting room that is on a meeting server that has not yet been configured, you will need to provide that server's credentials. Once all data is provided, the Join
button becomes active. Tapping it automatically configures the meeting server, if needed, and joins the room.
