Serious caching issues!

 Hello!

Others have posted about this issue, including here, and several more.  Basically, changes in the design, mostly custom controls, are NOT being updated on the web.  It doesn't matter whether you use Chrome, Firefox or IE7.  Restarting http on the server doesn't help, neither does stopping http, doing a dbcache flush, and restarting it.  Restarting the client doesn't help, nor does clearing the cache of the browser.  The design gets updated, and even re-building the design doesn't fix it.

On Stackoverflow, Henry Newberry mentioned that you can update the xsp.properties, which can force the design to update, but that doesn't seem to work.

Any other ideas?

Thanks, in advance!

If you are certain that the changes have been built.. Add a space or something in faces-config.xml and save. From what I've read/experienced, this should flush scope variables/etc.

If you don't know where this field is, press Ctrl+Shift+R (shortcut to look up "design elements" by name in an app) and type face in the search field.

Re: Serious caching issues!
 Thanks!

The problem isn't about scoped variables.  It's about even simple things like changing labels, or adding a ValuePicker for a text field.  They aren't showing up, at all.

I tried opening, changing then saving the faces-config.xml file, then rebuilt, and no change.  I'm using a custom control that has an ApplicationLayout, which is used by each page.  I changed the text in the title bar, rebuilt, then saw that change and the other changes!  :-)
I then removed the extra text from the title bar, and the previous cached version returned.  =8(

In the title bar, I tried using @Now, which displays, but still doesn't show the other changes.

Again, I tried in several browsers.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Use firebug's "Net" panel to see which if any resources are being cached.  From that panel you can also turn off caching to make sure that the design changes are actually getting saved to the back end compiled classes and the changes are flowing to the browser.

Strange.. The only other thing I can think of is if there's an error in the source code of an XPage, or in java code. The previous error-free version seems to persist until the error is fixed.

Re: Serious caching issues!
 Thanks, Paul!

It's still an issue, but I changed from Chrome to Firefox, and with Firebug, I delete the cache each time I don't see a proper change.  It's a nuisance, but it fixed the issue.

Take care!

Same issue.

I am experiencing the same issue.  8.53 UP1 fp2.

I can see the change in the .nsf on the server but the browsers all show an older design feature.

Clean and rebuild by admin Id in production will fix it sometimes.

Any solution?
