RE: Has anyone out there been able to display contents of Profile Docs in a view?

I don't think there is any practical way to achieve your goal directly. However, I would suggest a modification in the way you interact with profile documents that will give you the desired result.

My standard approach to profile docs is to have a normal, front end document store the values, and to write some or all of those values back to one or more profile documents using the form's querysave event. Once you've got a "normal" version of the document, you just display those docs in the view, and viola!

Here's a sample to get you going. Imagine some sort of configuration document or database preferences document, with some fields with names starting with "Layout" and others starting with "Pref". Customize the following code according to your form:

Sub Querysave(Source As Notesuidocument, Continue As Variant)
Dim doc As NotesDocument
Dim ProfileDoc1 As NotesDocument
Dim ProfileDoc2 As NotesDocument

Set doc = source.document

Set ProfileDoc1 = db.GetProfileDocument("DBSettings")
Set ProfileDoc2 = db.GetProfileDocument("LayoutSettings")

Call ProfileDoc1.ReplaceItemValue("DBTitle", db.title) 'set individual field value directly

'Loop through fields with standard name prefixes
Forall item In doc.Items
If Left( item.Name, 4 ) = "Pref" Then
Call ProfileDoc1.ReplaceItemValue(item.name, .GetItemValue(item.name))
End If
If Left( item.Name, 6 ) = "Layout" Then
Call ProfileDoc2.ReplaceItemValue(item.name, doc.GetItemValue(item.name))
End If
End Forall

Call ProfileDoc1.Save(True, False)
Call ProfileDoc2.Save(True, False)

End Sub
