I've had good luck at putting code in the postopen of a document that identifies another, related document, closes the first document, and then opens the related document. To the user, it just looks like a normal openning of a document, and the redirection is transparent.

You might be able to use the same technique, only your "related document" would be the same as the one clicked, and instead of using "EditDocument" method of lotusscript, you would use dialogbox.
