® Calendaring and Scheduling is a function that is available in both IBM SmartCloud
) hybrid environments and SmartCloud Notes
service-only environments, but Rooms and Reservations is only available in a SmartCloud Notes
The configuration and maintenance of the Resources Reservations database is administered on-premises. There is no available SmartCloud Notes
Admin UI to configure or maintain the rooms and resources. When the SmartCloud Notes
configuration tool runs, databases and documents are synchronized. The Resources Reservations Mail-in Database documents replicated to the SmartCloud Notes
service allow SmartCloud Notes
users to reserve rooms and resources in an on-premises Resource Reservations database. SmartCloud Notes
users can use a Notes
client to request and book free time with a resource by searching for a room but SmartCloud Notes
users cannot search for available rooms using a web browser; they can invite specific rooms.
When an on-premises user requests free time for a SmartCloud Notes
user, the on-premises user's mail server makes a free-time request to the SmartCloud Notes
user's mail server. When a SmartCloud Notes
user requests free time for an on-premises user, the SmartCloud Notes
user's mail server makes a free-time request to the on-premises user's mail server via a mail routing server in the on-premises hub domain.

In this exercise, you will:
- Explore the free time requests in a hybrid environment.
- Explore when a SmartCloud Notes user reserves a room or resource in a hybrid environment.
The mail-in database is designed to allow mail to be received by a database that is set up to receive mail. If a database is designed to receive mail, you must create a Mail-In Database document in the Domino® Directory. This document must exist in the Domino Directory of every server that stores a replica of the database. The database cannot receive mail until you create this document. When replicating Mail-in databases to servers in another Domino domain, create a matching Mail-in database document in the Domino Directory of the target server.

In a hybrid environment if there are Site documents on-premises that have the same name in the Resource Reservation databases across different domains, all resources at the sites are listed together under the shared site name. As a result, it is possible for users to inadvertently reserve a resource at an unintended site.
To correct the problem, perform the following steps:
Create a new Site document for each site with a duplicate name and then reassign its resources to the new site. If you have two sites with the same name, create just one new Site document; if you have three with the same name, create two new Site documents; and so forth.
1. For each site without a unique name, create a new Site document and give the site a unique name.
2. Open the Resource document of each resource at the site, and in the Site field, select the name of the new site.
3. Delete the original Site document.

Can a SmartCloud Notes web user reserve a room or resource by searching for it?
No. This can only be done using a IBM Notes Client.
Where is the request for a room or resource free time maintained?
The Resource Reservation mail-in database on-premise.
