Sometimes, a third party application (on i5 for instance) is sending messages to Domino with some attachments. In rare cases you end up with no attachment while using iNotes (formerly iNotes, then DWA, then iNotes) client (all releases).
In fact according to the attachment size, Domino will create or not create a $File field
Some symptoms are:
- No paperclip icon in Notes view
- No $FILE field in $Inbox view
- a $FILE field is created on opening the document in Lotus-Notes client
- No attachment icon is set when opening the document in iNotes.
To force Domino to add the $File field for these cases, you can add the following parameter to the Domino notes.ini file:
(You can add this via the server console by typing the following command: ' set config MIMEForceAttachments=1 '
Then issue the following commands to cause the parameter to take affect:
' tell smtp update config '
' tell router update config'
