Explanation:

It is possible to copy and paste the same document several times in a Lotus Notes® database without deleting any documents. For example, you are trying to archive a Notes database and if you set the database quota to 30MB and the quota warning threshold to 20MB, sometimes you receive the following warning message but most of the time, you do not:

"Notes error: Unable to write to database because database would exceed its disk quota."

Even after the quota is reached, you are still able to copy, paste, and add documents to the database.

Solution

This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# GMAA64MK4R and was fixed in Notes release 6.5.5. Now, if you set the parameter, REPL_OBEY_QUOTAS=1, in the notes.ini file, archiving will NOT be performed if the database is over quota (although you may not see the quota error all the time).

Applies to:

Servers

Default Value:

None

UI equivalent:

None, although you can specify this setting in the NOTES.INI Settings tab of the Configuration Settings document in the Domino Directory.

Syntax:

Repl_Obey_Quotas=0 / 1

Available since:

Lotus Notes/Domino 6.5.5

Obsolete since:

Lotus Notes/Domino x.x.x
